This Free Business Program Could Help Entrepreneurs Unlock $5,000 in Business Funding

Did you know Liberty Bank's Academy for Small Business is available to entrepreneurs in both Connecticut and Western Massachusetts?

According to a Sept. 25, 2023, news release from Liberty Bank, the bank expanded the Academy into Western Massachusetts through a partnership with SCORE of Western Massachusetts. While the announcement marked the program's launch in the Greater Springfield region, the Academy also serves Connecticut's small business community and continues to offer sessions throughout the year for entrepreneurs in both states.

The tuition-free Academy is designed to help new and existing small business owners gain the knowledge and confidence needed to start, manage, and grow their businesses. Participants receive practical training in business planning, financial management, marketing, record keeping, credit education, banking services, tax reporting, and time management.

According to Liberty Bank, the program consists of 10 classes completed over approximately five to six weeks and is offered through a combination of virtual and in-person sessions. Current partnerships include SCORE, the Women's Business Development Council (WBDC), Springfield-area community organizations, and Eastern Connecticut State University.

In addition to the educational curriculum, qualifying business owners in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts who successfully complete the Academy may apply for a $5,000 business line of credit, subject to Liberty Bank's lending and eligibility requirements.
